One person has died while 19 individuals were left injured following an accident at Lewwanduwa in close proximity to the Welipanna exit of the Southern Expressway.
The accident had taken place at around 5:45 pm when a luxury bus which was travelling at a high speed had collided onto a utility pole while taking a turn into the Southern Expressway.
The collission caused the bus to topple and had subsequently resulted in the death of 47-year old Niroshan Udayanga, a resident of Ahungalle. The bus was travelling from Galle to Meegamuwa at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, the injured in the accident are currenlty receiving treatment at the Aluthgama, Matugama, and Kalutara hospitals.
