One shot dead in Marawila last night

A man has died after being shot by a police officer in Marawila last night.

The incident is reported to have occured during a search carried out on a group of people in the area.

It is believed that one individual had engaged in a fight with these police officers following which gunshots were fired at him.

The victim has been identified as 31-year old Ajith Prasanna, a resident of Chilaw. He had died upon submission to the Marawila Base Hospital.
