One person has died while 10 were left injured following a head-on collision between a jeep and a van in Mihintale today (Oct 28).
Police said that the accident had taken place near the Ambagahawela junction when a jeep heading towards Trincomalee had collided with a van travelling in the opposite direction.
Five persons in the van, who sustained injuries, had been admitted to the Mihintale hospital following which a woman aged 45 had died. In addition, six persons who had been travelling in the jeep have been admitted to the Anuradhapura hospital.
Further investigations are underway.
