One person has been killed and another injured in an explosion in Kinniya yesterday (9).
Police stated that an investigation was launched following information that two people were admitted to Kinniya Hospital following an explosion that occurred near a house in Periyathamuna. One of the injured died upon admission while the other victim was transferred to Trincomalee Hospital for further treatment.
The deceased is a 37-year-old resident of Kinniya. Police suspect that the reason for the explosion was due to a mishap that occurred when the deceased and the injured victim were preparing to use dynamite for illegal fishing. Kinniya Police is investigating.
