A woman has died while seven persons were left injured after a cab had toppled off a precipice in the Maragala Mountain reserve in Monaragala today (Aug 29).
The victims, identified as local tourists, are residents of the Dambagalla and Lunugamvehera areas. They are receiving treatment at the Monaragala hospital.
Police have identified the deceased woman as a 54-year old resident of Dambagalla. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out on the body today.
Monaragala police are conducting further investigations into the accident.
