One killed, six injured in lorry-motorbike collision

One person was killed and six others injured this morning after a head-on collision between a motorbike and a lorry at Shawasthipura in Anuradhapura last evening (5).

Police said the lorry had gone off the road and overturned following the crash. Seven persons, including the motorcyclist and lorry driver were injured and admitted to Anuradhapura Hospital.

The 38-year-old motorcyclist later succumbed to his injuries. He was a resident of Nikaweratiya. Police said the lorry driver is due to be arrested in connection with the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
