One person has been arrested with more than 200 smuggled cigarettes in Mattakkuliya yesterday (Aug 8), police said.
The arrest had been set in motion upon information received by Special Task Force (STF) officers.
It was revealed that the cigarettes had been smuggled into the country without payment of Excise duty.
Police said that 14 packs containing 20 cigarettes each had been recovered during the raid last afternoon.
