The oral submissions of both parties in regard to the appeal filed by former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in the case involving the misappropriation of funds in the construction of the D.A. Rajapaksa memorial museum ended before the Appeal Court today (Jun 10).
Mr Rajapaksa has been accused of misappropriating state funds upto Rs 33.9 million in the construction of the D.A. Rajapaksa memorial museum.
During today's hearing, President's Counsel Romesh de Silva and Deputy Solicitor General Mililnda Gunathilaka appeared for the petitioner and the Attorney General respectively.
The former Defence Secretary had filed a revision petition against the Special High Court's decision to reject his preliminary objections citing its jurisdiction to hear the misappropriation case.
The petition is being heard before Justices Achala Wengappulli, and Arjuna Obeysekera.
Upon ending oral submissions, court instructed both parties to make written submissions on June 14. Court sittings were postponed until the given date.
