Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has instructed orphaned children living in registered children’s homes to be admitted to a national school located nearest to their facility.
The Principal of a leading school had recently rejected admission of such students by stating that enrolling such children would damage his reputation, the Education Ministry said in a statement.
Education Minister Kariyawasam had vehemently condemned the manner in which orphaned children were being sidelined in the society, the Ministry noted.
