The Navy arrested three suspects with 1297 kilograms of turmeric brought to Sri Lanka by sea from India today morning in the Sinnapaduwa-Punapitiya area in Chilaw.
The Turmeric stock was packed in 27 polythene bags.
The Navy also seized the boat which was said to have brought the consignment of turmeric to Sri Lanka. The boat was identified to have been a belonging of a resident of Chilaw.
The Navy has handed over the consignment of turmeric along with the suspects to the Customs Office at Sinnapaduwa for further investigations.
