Over 177 Sri Lankans who were stranded in Mumbai due to coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown have been repatriated to home in separate flights yesterday and they will be sent to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri services for necessary quarantine process, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.
As of now, 4,124 persons are in quarantine in 40 island-wide QCs, run by tri services. By this evening (1600 hours), 08 more COVID-19 positive cases were reported. Of them, 05 were from Chennai, Bangladesh (2) arrivals and one sailor. Similarly, 26 personnel, 21 overseas-based Sri Lankans and 05 heroic sailors after recovery left hospitals yesterday.
