Over 4000 individuals have been arrested for breaching the law following a island-wide search operation carried out by the Police last Sunday (Dec 23).
Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the suspects comprised 1122 individuals who were arrested over drunk-driving offences, 882 individuals who had warrants against them and several others who were caught breaking the law.
Mr. Gunasekara further said that 17,028 policemen were deployed to carry out the search operation.
