A total of 47, 430 postal vote applications out of 753, 037 received for the 2020 parliamentary election have been rejected, the Election Commission (EC) stated.
The EC added that 705, 085 postal vote applications have been accepted.
The Commission revealed that the majority of the rejected postal vote applications belong to government employees who don't belong to any group of officials expected to be deployed to polling centres on duty on election day. A significant number of applications have also been rejected due to reasons such as an employee submitting applications from two different workplaces, insufficient information being given in the application and applications having incorrect information.
No application from officials who are due to go on election duty have been rejected, the EC stressed.
