Update: Owner of Kandy collapsed building remanded
Anura Lewke, owner of the collapsed building in Buwelikada, Kandy was remanded until October 13 by Kandy Magistrate short while ago.
Lewke, a former Basnayake Nilame was arrested earlier today over the death of 32 year old Achala Ekanayake, a lawyer by profession, her husband Chamila Prasad and their one month old baby Onela.
The five storey building Lewke owned collapsed over the couple’s house-boutique hotel last week killing the young family.
A detailed report prepared by a 10 member specialist committee over the possible causes for the collapse was submitted to the Central Province Governor yesterday.
