The People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has requested the Delimitation Review Committee to submit its report to President Maithripala Sirisena at least within a month.
The Review Committee led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was appointed by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya on August 28 last year to review the delimitation report that was defeated in Parliament. However, the review committee has not subimtted its report as of yet.
PAFFREL Director Rohana Hettiarachchi, in the letter pointed out that people in three provinces have been deprived of their voting rights for an year and four months while the people in three other provinces have been deprived of their right to vote for a period of four months as of now.
He added that no report has been submitted by the Review Committee so far although the deadline for the submission was on October 28 last year.
Therefore, Mr. Hettiarachchi requested the Review Committee led by the Prime Minister to submit its report at least within a month in order to proceed with the Provincial Council polls.
