PAFFREL issues six guidelines for President and PM to consider when appointing new Cabinet

The People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has issued a statement appealing to the President and Prime Minister to consider when appointing members to the new cabinet.

The release listed out six guideline to be considered when appointing the next cabinet.

The list is as follows :

  1. Restrict the number of cabinet ministers to 30
  2. Refrain from appointing individuals who have been accused of serious wrongdoings.
  3. Those who have financial dealings with the state or state-run institutions should be disqualified from being selected to the cabinet.
  4. All ministers should submit an affidavit stating that they do not or would not have direct or indirect dealings with state-run institutions.
  5. Ministers should be appointed after having taken into consideration their knowledge and skills while the portfolios should be allocated as per a scientifict method.
  6. The skills of those ministers must be revealed before the country.

Further the organisation said,  in order to change the current unpleasant perception that the general public had towards Politicians, and in order to  give way to a new political culture it would be beneficial to have the President and the Prime Minister focus their attention on the above guidelines.
