Parliamentary sessions have been adjourned until 1 pm tomorrow.
At the commencement of today's parliamentary session which began at 1 pm, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and MP Mahinda Amaraweera were appointed as the Opposition leader and the Chief Opposition Whip respectively.
However, during the session, the TNA and the UNF raised objections claiming that the former President cannot be considered as an MP anymore since he had resigned as a member of the SLFP.
The key highlight of the session was the cross over of SLFP MPs Wijith Wijayamuni Zoysa, Indika Bandaranayake and Lakshman Senaviratne to the govt.
MP Soyza defended his decision to cross over by stating that he took the decision because of the dispute that erupted between the three main organs of the government.
Meanwhile, the JVP also move a motion to abolish executive Presidency during the session.
