The Parliamentary debate on the Meethotamulla landfill site disaster and waste management commenced today at 9.30am.
A gazette issued under President Maithripala Sirisena’s directive under the Public Security Act Clause NO 16 declaring garbage disposal by any authority of the Public Administration as an essential service is set to be up for debate.
In order for the directive to pass, it should receive the majority vote of the parliament.
