Passengers who travelled in the Colombo bound bus from Polonnaruwa bus stand (NB - 9268) at 5.45 am have been requested to be self-quarantined immediately and contact the area Police, Public Health Inspector or the Medical Officer of Health.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the five prison inmates who escaped the Gallella COVID treatment centre in Polonnaruwa have travelled from Polonnaruwa to Kurunegala in the private bus.
One of the escapees, a 27 year old was found in a house in Kaakkapalliya area in Dematapitiya, Chilaw on Thursday (31) evening. The escapee, who was found, has travelled in a bus from Kurunegala to Chilaw and taken another bus from Chilaw to Kaakkapalliya.
Police said other inmates have taken buses to different directions from Kurunegala. All five were inmates of Negombo prison who were tested positive for COVID-19.
