Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's affidavit concerning allegations levelled against him will be submitted to the Presidential Commission probing irregularities at SriLankan Airlines on June 07.
President's Counsel Additional Solicitor (Rtd) General Niel Unamboowe informed Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) Chairman retired Supreme Court Justice Anil Gooneratne regarding the affidavit today (Jun 04).
The affidavit has been handed over to Commission Secretary Ariyadhasa Cooray who will present it after obtaining the signature of one more PCoI official.
Evidence on the misuse of chartered flights during President Rajapaksa's tenure including flights for the President himself was produced before the PCoI probing fraud and corruption at SriLankan Airlines, SriLankan Catering and Mihin Lanka.
The Presidential Secretariat still owes payments to SriLankan over the usage of these chartered flights. Meanwhile, the case of a VIP kit given by Airbus to SriLankan for the President's use was also investigated beofre the Commission.
