Registration for all electric chain-saws will commence from February 20.
The Defence Ministry said that chain saws which are owned by state, semi-government, private institutions or by invdividuals will have to be produce before the nearest police station and then obtain the permits.
The purpose of this project is to control deforestation, felling of trees and to eliminate illegal scams that are taking place by destorying the enviornment using such saws.
The registration of chain-saws will take place from the said date upon the instructions issued by President Maithripala Sirisena to the Defence Ministry.
