The petrol crisis continued today (8) with long queues of motorists and members of the public waiting at filling stations to obtain petrol. Despite the Government's claim that there was enough existing stocks of petrol, many fuel stations in the city and outstations did not have petrol early this morning.
The following scenes were captured this morning in Matara, at the only filling station in the town that was issuing petrol. All other filling stations in the town were closed this morning. At the request of fuel station owners, policemen have been deployed at these stations to maintain order.
