Former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan who is in remand prison over the assasination of former TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham was further remanded until May 11 by Batticaloa magistrate today.
Considering the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country, Batticaloa Prisons Department made arrangements today to take up the case before District Civil Court Judge D. Susaithaasan via Skype technology.
Former Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Puligal (TMVP) national coordinator and Eastern provincial councilor Edwin Silwa Krishnanantharaja, K. Kanaganayagam and Army intelligence officer M. Kaleel were also further remanded along with Pillayan till February 6. Pillayan was arrested in 2015 when he arrived at the CID to give a statement in connection with the assassination of the late Tamil politician, Joseph Pararajasingham who was shot dead on Christmas Eve in 2005.
