A Pirith chanting ceremony and a Dhana Pinkama was held at the President's House in Colombo over the weekend to invoke blessings on the citizens and the country.
The all night Pirith Chanting Ceremony was conducted under the patronage of Most Venerable Muruthtettuwe Ananda Nayaka Thero on Saturday.
The Maha Sangha and several other Buddhist monks participated in this occasion, the President's Media Division said.
Meanwhile, a Dhana was offered to 300 monks yesterday.
The Maha Sangha including the Tri Nikayas’ Sanga Nayaka and Anu Nayake Theros, along with several other monks participated in the religious ceremony.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, ministers, parliamentarians, public officials and several others also attended the event.
