The government has taken several measures to empower women and enhance their participation in political, economic and social activities, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday (Mar 26).
The Prime Minister during his address at the Dhanabhimani Programme at Temple Trees remarked that the country's economic standards cannot be uplifted without the support of women.
Further, Mr. Wickremesinghe pointed out that the greatest achievement of women under the present government was the increased quota of women representation in local bodies upto 25 perecent.
The event was organised by the Samurdhi Development Department under the supervision of the Primary Industries and Social Empowerment Ministry.
