Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe presented the Expert Committee report on proposals for drafting a new Constitution along with representations made by different political parties to the Constitutional Assembly (CA) this morning.
Presenting the report, Mr Wickremesinghe said it was up to the CA to move forward on drafting a new Constitution if the assembly agreed.
Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa however, opposed holding a debate on the expert panel report, saying that this Parliament did not have any authority to pass such a Constitution.
