Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today briefed parliament regarding his recent visit to India and denied that any discussion had been held regarding building a bridge connecting the two countries. “There were some media reports that we held discussions regarding the building of a bridge between the two countries. There were no such talks. These reports are meant to mislead the people,” he said. He also said no discussions were held regarding the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with India during his tour from Sept 14 to 16 The Prime Minister he had invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the country. “We discussed the means and methods of improving bilateral economic relationships between the two nations and signing of the Indo-Lanka Economic and Technological Agreement. Indian Prime Minister agreed that we should enter into the agreement around May or June 2016,” Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said. Chandani Kirinde
