Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is to decide on the new appointments to be made to the respective tourism state agencies this evening (Wednesday).
Tourism and Wildlife Minister John Amaratunga told the Times Online that he would be meeting the PM at 5 pm where they would discuss about the new appointments to be made to the relevant tourism institutions.
Sri Lanka Tourism comprises the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) and the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism Hotel Management (SLITHM).
Minister Amaratunga noted that once the new appointments are made by the end of the week they would be able to establish the plan for this year and draw up plans to launch the global promotion campaign in Berlin in March this year.
Sri Lanka is expected to launch its biggest global campaign this year and a promotional drive is to be held in January in Mumbai and Delhi during the country’s participation at the travel fairs held there.
In addition there are plans to attract more West Asian traffic to the destination for the summer during the country’s participation at the Arabian Travel Mart (ATM).(Sunimalee)
