The Police has cautioned the public of a scam carried out by organised criminals through social media.
Some social media users have been duped into giving money, after being informed that they have won the lottery or a prize.
Others have been tricked into giving money, claiming that the funds would be used by a Non Governmental Organisation to distribute relief items and cash among selected people.
Accordingly, police have urged the public to verify from registered organisations on the authenticity of such messages before providing money.
