A constable attached to the Traffic Branch of the Maharagama Police has shot himself earlier today (Feb 28).
The incident had taken place at around 9:40 am in the vicinity of the police station.
Police said that the constable had shot himself owing to a personal dispute. A post-mortem is expected to be carried out on the body following a court order.
Maharagama police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
