A police constable has been hospitalised after he was stabbed while attempting to arrest an individual over the possession of heroin.
The police officer was stabbed by the suspect when the latter was about to be arrested in Obeysekarapura, Rajagiriya.
The victim, PC Jayaratne who was attached to the Welikada police is currently being treated at the Colombo General Hospital.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been taken into police custody with 280 milligrams of heroin in his possession, police said.
