Police find 41 heroin pellets swallowed by Pakistani drug mule

A Pakistani national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while trying to smuggle in a stock of heroin pellets. 

Police Media Unit said the suspect had arrived on a flight from Doha in Qatar early last morning. He was taken into custody by officers from the Police Anti-Narcotics Bureau based at BIA.

Further investigations had revealed that the suspect was acting as a drug mule and was transporting heroin pellets in his stomach after swallowing them. 

He was admitted to the Negombo Hospital and he has so far passed 41 heroin pellets from his body, police further said. The suspect is being held under 7-day detention orders and the Anti-Narcotics Bureau is conducting further investigations.
