An inspector attached to the Police Anti-Vice squad has been arrested while attempting to sell illicit foreign liquor and cigarettes to a night club in Kollupitiya last night (Feb 28).
Ten bottles of foreign liquor and six bundles of illegal cigarettes were seized from the possession of the suspect, police said.
The arrest was made following a tip-off received by the Kollupitiya police claiming that an individual who had not paid duty had attempted to sell the liquor and cigarettes to the night club.
The police inspector had already been subjected to a work suspension after he was arresting for transporting cannabis, a police officer said.
He will be produced before courts in due course.
