A suspect has been arrested over the possession of counterfeit currency in Tangalle last evening.
Police had discovered 10 Rs 5000 counterfit notes and 50 Rs 500 fake notes in the possession of the suspect.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect, a 51-year old man was a warranted suspect in two robberies that had taken place in Tangalle and at a jewellery shop in Walasmulla.
He will be produced before the Tangalle Magistrates Court today (Apr 05).
