Chilaw Assistant Police Superintendent Keerthi Bandara, accused of soliciting a bribe, has been remanded until December 4 upon orders issued by the Chilaw Magistrate's Court.
The police officer had allegedly sought a bribe of Rs 200,000 from the owner of a temple in Chilaw, before being apprehended while obtaining Rs 190,000 of the total payment.
He had been arrested yesterday (Nov 22) by officers attached to the Bribery and Corruption Commission.
