The Colombo Harbour Police are currently carrying out search operations for an unidentified container truck and a van, believed to be carrying a potential explosive device, Times Online learns.

Earlier today, the Director of Security at the Colombo Harbour had issued a letter placing all security officials at the harbour on alert. The warning stated that Police Intelligence had found information that an unidentified container truck and a van carrying a potential explosive device was heading towards Colombo.

Speaking to Times Online, Police Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara stated the information was passed down by the Colombo DIG earlier today. He went on to say that the Police are currently acting on every information that they receive and the potential threat on board the suspected vehicles was one such instance.

Search operations are currently underway at the Colombo Harbour for the potential threat.
