A Police officer in Puttalam was arrested by the Bribery Commission for soliciting a bribe from a driver yesterday (Jan 2).
The officer, serving as a Sergeant at the Puttalam Police Station had solicited a bribe of Rs 5000 while returning some documents of a lorry driver who had been arrested recently.
The Sergeant is due to be produced before the Puttalam District Court in due course.
