Police Spokesperson SSP Jaliya Senaratne has been removed from the post with immediate effect while DIG in charge of legal affairs Ajith Rohana has been appointed to the post, Police said.
DIG Rohana earlier served as the police spokesman too ahead of his promotion.
Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of Internal Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management Chamal Rajapaksa told the Parliament yesterday that statement made by SSP Senaratne over the alleged links of Riyaj Bathiudeen, the brother of parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen over the Easter Sunday attacks was not suitable.
