Measures will be taken to gazette the Port City as a government land belonging to the Colombo District under the Western Province.
Cabinet approval in this regard was given after considering a proposal submitted by Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka during this week's cabinet discussion.
Approval was also granted to set-up an authority and grant powers in order to manage the activities which would take place in the Port City.
A land area of 269 hectares would be included as a part of Sri Lanka following the construction of the project which is currently underway.
The construction would also see the setting-up of a coast spanning two kilometres on a 91-hectare space of land.
An entertainment park, facilities for aquatic sports, restaurants, and international auditoriums are to be expected to be set-up within the Port City.
