Yeterday’s trade union action which was expected to be carried out by the Post and Telecommunications Officers' Association (PTOA) has been called off.
This decision was announced following talks which were held between PTOA representatives and Postal Officials.
During the discussion, Postal officials had said that they would discuss this matter with the Finance Minister who promised to provide a solution within two weeks.
Meanwhile, the strike carried out by teachers and principal’s yesterday (Mar 13) proved to be successful, trade unions claim.
Teachers unions said that they would resort to another trade union action if their demands are not met before April 22.
However, the Education Ministry condemned the strike action by calling it a foiled attempt by trade unions to fulfill petty objectives by misleading those in the teaching profession.
The Ministry also paid tribute to the teachers and principals who reported to work amidst several obstructions and threats.
