President Maithripala Sirisena arrived in Paris last morning, to attend a critical global climate meeting commonly known as COP 21 local media reported.
The summit is aimed at striking a long term deal to limit carbon emissions across the world in a bid to find a lasting solution to global climate change.
Along with President Sirisena, Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera and a high profile Sri Lankan delegation also visited Paris.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Sri Lankan President is expected to hold a bilateral discussion with the President of Serbia. The meeting is likely to take place on November 30.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
