President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a circular imposing a ban on holding state functions at hotels and private venues.
Accordingly, all state functions are to take place only at state-owned venues in future.
President Sirisena had said the ban was imposed as a cost cutting measure of the government.
A short while later, the official car of the Commander of the Navy, bearing plate NAHA 5006, departed from Navy House, Longdon Place, Colombo 7.
