President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a gazette notification instructing the tri-forces to maintain "public order" across the country.
The President had issued these instructions to the Army, Navy, and the Air Force under the Public Security Ordinance.
Yesterday, the Defence Ministry which comes under the purview of the President had announced that the Emergency Regulations would not be extended.
The State of Emergency had been imposed on April 22 in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday terrorist bombings.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
