President Maithripala Sirisena has granted approval to link Sri Lanka's security database to that of the INTERPOL, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Vijitha Herath told Times Online.
This decision was made during the all-party conference which was held at the Presidential Secretariat today (Apr 25), Mr. Herath said while noting that both databases have not been linked to date.
Meanwhile, several issues were raised regarding the possible social backlash that could be faced by certain suspects who have been arrested and then released.
Accordingly, the President had agreed to issue directives to the security forces in order to take extreme precautions while arresting suspects.
