President Maithripala Sirisena has said that he will not appoint Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister, SLPP MP Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said.
The President had made this statement during a meeting that was held between government MPs and himself at the Presidential Secretariat a short while ago.
President Sirisena had also expressed his dissatisfaction over today's no-confidence vote as the correct procedure was not followed.
He had also asked the SLPP MPs to prove their majority in Parliament during the next vote.
