President Sirisena to leave for Indonesia

President Maithripala Sirisena will leave for Indonesia today to attend the Leader’s Summit of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) commencing on March 7, local media reported.

The President is expected to arrive at the International Airport in Jakarta at 2 p.m. today (06) to attend the summit which takes place under the theme “Strengthening Maritime Cooperation for a Peaceful, Stable, and Prosperous Indian Ocean”.

The Summit will bring together the Leaders of the 21 IORA Member States and its 7 Dialogue Partners as well as other special invitees and guests.

On the sidelines of the IORA meetings, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera is reported to hold bilateral discussions with his counterparts from IORA member countries.
