President Maithripala Sirisena is expected to leave for Malta on November 26 to attend the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Itwill be held at Fort St. Angelo in Birgu from November 27-29.
Sri Lanka hosted the biennial event, which brings together Heads of Government from the 53 countries in the Commonwealth, in 2013. President Sirisena, who is the current Chair-in-Office in the Commonwealth will hand over the position to Malta at the 2015 CHOGM. Also, when leaders gather for the CHOGM in Malta later this month, they will select a new Secretary-General for the 53-member association.
