Central Bank governor Dr Indrajith Coomaraswamy will be conferred the Desamanya title by President Maithripala Sirisena today (Aug 19), a gazette notification published by the President's Office reads.
Coomaraswamy will be among the six personalities who would receive the Desamanya title from the President during an event at the BMICH.
The Desabandu, Vidya Jyothi, Kala Keerthi, Sri Lanka Sikhamani, Vidya Nidhi, Kala Suri, Sri Lanka Thilaka, and Veera Prathapa titles will also be conferred upon several personalities during the event.
Meanwhile, President Sirisena has also decided to award honorary titles to certain foreign personalities as well, the gazette stated.
Among these recipients is Senior Japanese diplomat Yasushi Akashi who would be conferred the Sri Lanka Ratna title.
Cumaraswamy Sivathasan from Singapore, David Alexander Young from Australia, and Sabaratnam Arulkumaran from UK who have excelled in the field of science will receive the Sri Lanka Ranjana titles from the President.
