President Maithripala Sirisena is to issue a gazette notification clarifying the ban on garments which cover the face, an official at the Presidential Secretariat told Times Online.
Last month, the President had issued a gazette banning all garments which cover the face and affect the process of identifying a person.
However, confusion had arose with regard to the implementation of the ban, with some raising questions as to whether full face helmets, and face masks will also be considered as banned.
Accordingly, President Sirisena is set to publish a gazette notification tomorrow clarifying details regarding the ban along with instances of when the ban could be applicable.
