President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will undertake a visit to Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa today (Dec 23) to inspect the impact of the recent inclement weather conditions.
He will also engage in an inspection tour around paddy storage facilities in the wake of soaring rice prices, an official at the President's Office said.
Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Ministry says the government would distribute compensation for housing damages by this week.
Home Affairs Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon said that Rs 2.5 million would be distributed for each fully damaged house while compensation for partially damaged houses would vary based on the damage.
